Just wanted to say hi. I keep meaning to post here and forgetting...

I am volunteering at Camp Laurel Girl Scout Summer camp in Lebanon for the summer. They are looking for advanced/intermediate riders to volunteer to excercise the horses and help with the program. go to www.girlscoutscttrails.org or call (860)450-7511 for more info. It is a blast!

How's everyone else's summers going?

That sounds interesting.
I don't know where Lebanon is (heh.), but i am down in Milford. Mapquest, here i come.

Do you have to be a girlscout to do it? Is there an age requirement for the volunteers (i am 16.)?
It does sounds like fun though- is there any way i can do it for like-2 to 3 weeks and not all summer, just because of rides to and from and such...
And with working with the horses, is there any certain requirements (as in w/t/c, jump, train) anything. i can walk, trot, canter, jump(haven't on any horse but my own in 2yrs though.), and such.

Is the camp day camp or overnight?

Thanks. and sorry for the questions.

You don't have to be a girl scout, but I am not sure if there's an age limit. If you call that phone number, the program coordinator can tell you for sure. She is looking for assertive, knowledgable riders. A lot of the horses have good potential but are a little out of shape and a little frisky from lack of work. Jumping is not required. There is a daycamp portion and overnight portion. They are looking for paid workers too for the horse program and to stay overnights at the camp with the horses (again I don't know what the age limit is). Lebanon is North of Norwich. The address at the camp is 175 Clubhouse rd.

Hope to see you soon!
